Jim Stacherski and his wife, Judy, were high school sweethearts. But fate pulled them apart. Thirty years later, they reunited and got married. Their life together was perfect. Until Judy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily, her life insurance had a feature that helped her in her final days. To hear more, read on.
Jim Stacherski and his wife, Judy, were high school sweethearts. But then Jim got sent off to Vietnam. And when he returned, everything had changed. Judy had gotten married and started a new life without him. Sometime later, Jim got married as well.
Then fate intervened. Thirty years later, Jim and Judy ran into each other again. By this time, both of them were divorced. They reconnected and married soon after. The happy couple tried to make up for lost time, becoming almost inseparable.
But then fate intervened again. Judy learned that her breast cancer, which she thought she had beaten, came back and spread to her bones. Her doctors told her that her condition was terminal.
Their insurance agent, Melissa Mlasko, met with the couple to discuss their options. Melissa discovered that there was an accelerated death benefit rider included in Judy’s group life insurance policy through her job. This benefit allowed Judy to access 90 percent of her policy’s death benefit while she was still alive.
Having access to this cash allowed Jim and Judy to spend more quality time together during her last days. “Without the life insurance, I would have had to sell our home,” says Jim. “Life insurance is so important, because you never know when something is going to happen.”
